Senior Strategic Advisor and Repatriation Coordinator
Megon Noble is a senior strategic advisor to the Provost. Megon serves as the repatriation coordinator under the UC Policy on Native American Cultural Affiliation and Repatriation, a program manager for Grand Challenges Reimagining the Land Grant University, and a resource on a variety of matters impacting the campus and Native American communities. Megon’s primary responsibility is the repatriation of Native American ancestral remains and cultural items according to state and federal law and UC Policy. She joined UC Davis in 2014 to develop and manage the campus’s repatriation program. Megon is responsible for ongoing repatriation compliance efforts and establishing an active consultation program with Native American tribes to facilitate all aspects of repatriation. She serves as the point of contact for all repatriation inquiries and leads a dedicated team.
Megon has taught Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) courses across the country to museum, agency, and tribal staff and representatives through the National Preservation Institute. Prior to UC Davis, she served as the NAGPRA coordinator for University of Washington’s Burke Museum. In addition to NAGPRA work, Megon has taught museum collections management coursework through the University of Washington Museology Graduate Program and Northwest Indian College. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Tufts University in anthropology and history and her Master of Arts from University of Washington in museology.
