The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of UC Davis Health Hospitals and Clinics is the senior operational leader and lead administrator for the health system’s inpatient and outpatient enterprise, including UC Davis Medical Center, UC Davis Children’s Hospital, and UC Davis Health’s ambulatory clinics across the region. This leader is also accountable for the performance of the UC Davis Rehabilitation Hospital, which is operated through a joint venture with Lifepoint Health. Reporting to the UC Davis Vice Chancellor, Human Health Sciences, the CEO is accountable for overall operational and financial performance of the hospitals and clinics; executing strategic and capital priorities; and ensuring high-quality patient care that supports and advances UC Davis Health’s clinical, teaching, and research missions in partnership with the UC Davis School of Medicine, the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, and the UC Davis Medical Group.

The CEO will guide UC Davis Health Hospitals and Clinics through a period defined by significant growth and complexity—balancing day-to-day performance pressures (including capacity and throughput constraints) with major long-range planning and investment. The CEO will play a central role in shaping system strategy and partnerships, strengthening operational rigor and workforce management, and stewarding financial sustainability amid dynamic labor and market conditions.

As the health system’s primary representative for the hospitals and clinics enterprise, the CEO will engage extensively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Success will require an enterprise mindset, the ability to lead across a complex academic and clinical environment, and the credibility to partner effectively with physicians, nurses, and operational leaders while advancing UC Davis Health’s strategic priorities.
